Form
This advert is very realistic, as it shows different families and different activities which are not out of the normal expectation of life, such as a woman at work or a man at a woman shoe shop.
Style
This advert could be seen as a parodic or parody of life situations at it seems that the man at the show shop is not enjoying himself or the woman at work, this could also be the use or humour as it shows the situation in which the person deems it necessary to open the chocolate orange by Terry.
Technical Codes
The song used is pleasant and fills the viewer with 'jolly' thoughts which when the song is later replayed may remind the customer about the product and the joy it brought them self. This song also is very repetitive and and so would stick in the mind of the customer easily. The Editing is done so that each scene changes from one family to another or one work aspect to another, the scene changing is done so that the scene changes however this does not use any fades or other types of editing beside a cut.
In the call centre scene : Everyone is working at an individual desk with the main woman in centre of frame, on her desk is the product which being orange stands out from the black and other general colours of the office. The attention is on the woman who is the centre of frame because she is the only person doing something above the normal, the viewer then only has tunnel vision to focus on her and everything else, such as the woman looking for folders disappears out of focus.
In the shoe shop scene, you can see that the man has been left here by a girl who is looking at the shoes from the bags on the seat next to him, you can also see two females in the background so they may be staff or a partner of the male character we are seeing on the sofa.
In the next scene we see a mother and a friend having a coffee whilst a baby plays, the room has many different decorations scattered around including a London red bus that is a toy of the babies, suggesting what area this advert is created in.
MEDIA DAA 14.09.16 Selling Techniques
- Lifestyle appeal
- Celebrity endorsement
- Creating memory of product
- Create an emotional response
- Overt or hidden messages
Creating a memory of a product is done in this advert, this is done by the company logo and product being used through out the advert, with no scene with out the product used. This advert is made very memorial because of the use of a sting, at the end of the advert as well as the company logo and product name coming on the screen a small piece of music plays that would get into the audience's head and when next played would remind them of this video.
